Snow Angel

Thanks to a blindingly fast overtime heroic, Hermantown, Minnesota native Kyle Schmidt helped the UMD Bulldogs become college hockey's top dogs on Saturday night, April 9.  Although the 'Dogs hounded the Michigan Wolverines all evening with 38 SOG, an overflow audience of 19,222 had to wait until the tail end of the evening before Schmidt directed a Travis Oleksuk centering pass underneath Michigan goaltender Shawn Hunwick to seal the deal.

Fittingly, as the angel who brought UMD fans tidings of great joy at 3:22 of overtime, Schmidt celebrated with a sliding snow angel into the opposite end of the rink at the X, evoking memories of Theoren Fleury's famous 1991 OT winner in Edmonton.
